1948-D 50¢ WRPM-001

Description:  D/D Tilted (Rotated)

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A: WDDO-001.  A Class II spread toward the center shows on LIBERTY.  An extremely close spread toward the center shows on IGWT and the date.  Die scratch south from the tip of the nose.  Obverse Stage B: Stage A die scratches abraded away.  No other prominent die markers.  Reverse Stage A: Series of NNE/SSW and NE/SW die scratches between the E of EPU and the right dot.  Two E/W die scratches under the D of UNITED which link together on the right.  Reverse Stage B: Stage A die scratches are very weak.

1948-D 50¢ WRPM-002

Description:  D/D Tilted (Rotated)

Die Markers:  Obverse:  WDDO-002.  A Class II spread toward the center increases in strength to the right, shows doubling on BER of LIBERTY and IGWT.  Tripling shows on the TY of LIBERTY and the top of the head.  Light NE/SW die scratch between the head and the E of LIBERTY.  Small die gouge in the field east and below center of the Y in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  Very short die gouge to the left and slightly below center of the bell hanger.  N/S die gouge in the field approximately centered between the H and A of HALF.

Description: D/D South

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge can be found to the right of the lower B in LIBERTY.  A horizontal die scratch can be found below the E of LIBERTY.  A long die scratch runs north to south to the left of the 1.  Reverse:  WDDR-003.  Extra thickness with some separation shows on USA, the dots, HALF DOLLAR, and EPU.  A spread to the east shows on the eagle and the bell clapper.  A diagonal die gouge can be found above the E in EPU.  A die scratch runs SE from the M of UNUM.  A die gouge can be found between the upper E and S of STATES.  A die gouge can be found inside the lower 2nd S of STATES.  A die gouge can be found inside the O in OF.

Description:  While this isn't an RPM variety, it is extremely interesting.  It looks like a D mint mark was punched into the upper right side of the bell to the right of the letter W in STOW.
