Die Markers:  Obverse:  None recorded.  Reverse:  Series of NNE/SSW die scratches right of the primary mint mark.

Description:  S/S South

Die Markers:  Obverse:  NNE/SSW die scratch from the right lower area of the 1 in the date to the bust.  NW/SE die scratches through the lower area of the 9 and 3 in the date.  Reverse:  N/S die crack along the left side of the left wing positioned below the ITED of UNITED.

Description:  S/S East

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Short die scratch south from the lower left of the O in GOD.  Light die scratch NNW from the lower left of the 1 in the date.  Reverse:  No prominent die markers.

1937-D 25¢ WRPM-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  D/D/D Southeast & Tilted (Rotated)

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A: NNW/SSE die scratches above WE.  SE die scratch from the lower right of the W in WE.  Obverse Stage B: Stage A die scratches are weaker.  Reverse Stage A: Die gouges at the left inside of the lower opening of the E in STATES.  Wavy N/S die gouge on the right wing near the breast.  Reverse Stage B: Die gouge above the right side of the O in DOLLAR.  WSW/ENE die gouge above both L’s of DOLLAR.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Short NE/SW die scratch in the field right of center of the 7 in the date.  Reverse:  N/S die scratch connecting the arrow feathers and the wing.  Lighter N/S die scratches in the field.

1939-D 25¢ WRPM-002          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  D/D/D South & South

Die Markers:  Obverse:  No prominent die markers.  Reverse:  Two die cracks along the contour of the right wing under ITED of UNITED.  Third die crack on the right wing beginning at the I in UNITED then curving along the wing and exiting near the Q in QUARTER.  Three short die cracks on the contour of the left wing under MERI of AMERICA.  Die crack inside under AM of AMERICA near the contour of the left wing running through the URIBUS of PLURIBUS.

1939-D 25¢ WRPM-003

Description:  D/D South

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Die crack in the upper hair running into the field between the RT of LIBERTY.  NNW/SSE die scratches between WE and the throat.  Reverse:  Light die scratches in the field in mostly a northerly direction.

1939-S 25¢ WRPM-001

Description:  S/S North.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  The obverse is also a doubled die variety listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1939-S 25¢ WDDO-002.  A CW spread from a pivot at about 12:00 shows on the date, the designer’s initials, IGWT, the lower queue, and the lower ribbon.  A die scratch runs east from the right side of the first 9 in the date.  A die scratch runs from the lower right of the G in GOD to the upper left of the U in TRUST.  A die scratch runs west from the left side of the I in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A die crack runs from the rim through the upper NITED of UNITED.  A die crack runs down the eagle’s right wing ending in the field above the Q in QUARTER.  A very rough surface can be found in the lower MER of AMERICA.
