Description:  A spread towards the center shows on the lower half of the left wheat ear and the left wheat stem.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Will vary on the affected working dies.  Reverse:  Will vary on the affected working dies.

1946 1¢ WDDR-001          "Best Of" Variety

Description:  A strong Class V CW spread from a pivot at about 5:00 shows EPU, the dots, the left wheat ear and stalk, and the left most letters of USA and ONE CENT.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Die scratch SW from the front of the eyebrow.  NNW/SSE die scratch to the right of the nose.  Nearly vertical die scratch to the right of the upper lip.  Die gouge to the right of the bowtie.  Obverse Stage B:  New obverse die.  Die gouge (dot) north of the right side of the 9 in the date.  Reverse Stage A:  Die gouge between the bottoms of the C and E in CENT.  Reverse Stage B:  Stage A die gouge is no longer visible.

Description:  A very close spread towards the center shows on the upper left wheat lines, the E in EPU, and the left dot.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  The obverse is a minor doubled die listed as 1946 1¢ WDDO-003.  Extra eyelids can be found directly under the normal eyelid and above the eyelid.  Very slight doubling towards the center shows on GOD WE TRUST.  Parallel die scratches run SW from the lower letters of IN.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs south from the bottom right of the D in UNITED to the top of the M in AMERICA.

Description:  Strong extra thickness spread towards the center shows on EPU, both wheat ears, and both wheat stems.  The spread is strongest on the left side of the reverse.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die scratch runs NW/SE to the right of the lower lip.  Reverse:  A long die scratch runs SE from under the left side of the A in STATES.
