1937 10¢ WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A Class II spread towards the center shows on the date and slightly on the letters of IGWT and the designer’s initials.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A nearly horizontal die scratch connects the upper T and R of TRUST.  Several die scratches run SW to NE to the right of the upper back of the neck.  Reverse:  A die gouge (dot) can be found below the bottom left of the fasces.  A die scratch runs through the IME of DIME extending through the right star.  A short die gouge protrudes from the center left side of the 2nd S in STATES.  A short die gouge protrudes from the upper left side of the E in AMERICA.

1937 10¢ WDDO-002

Description:  A Class II spread towards the center shows on the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Parallel WNW/ESE die scratches can be found inside the upper B in LIBERTY.  A die gouge can be found below the right side of the L in LIBERTY.  Rotational die scratches can be found throughout the obverse.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs from the left star to the bottom of the U in UNITED.  A die scratch runs from the bottom of the axe handle through the ribbon to the top of the D in DIME.

Description:  A Class II spread towards the center shows on the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short die gouge runs north from the top right side of the 2nd T in TRUST.  A strong die scratch runs parallel to the rim midway between the E and R in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A WNW/ESE die scratch can be found inside the lower 2nd A in AMERICA.  A die scratch runs from the bottom left of the fasces to the axe handle.

Description:  A Class II spread towards the center shows on the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A WSW/ENE die gouge runs through the lower L in LIBERTY.  Short die gouges protrude from the lower left of the I, the lower left of the B, and the lower left of the E in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs from WNW to ESE through the ES of STATES and the upper dot to the O in OF.

Description:  A Class II spread towards the center shows on the date and IGWT.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die gouge can be found between the upper T and R in TRUST.  Reverse:  Two small die gouges (dots) can be found to the right of the upper E in ONE.  A die gouge can be found inside the D of UNITED.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die gouge can be found well to the right of the bottom of the B in LIBERTY.  A die gouge can be found to the right of the bottom of the back of the head.  Reverse:  A light die scratch runs from WSW to ENE inside the O in OF.  A small die gouge can be found just to the right of the center of the I in DIME.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Numerous die scratches run SSW/NNE to the right of the lower bust.  Numerous die scratches run NW/SE through IGWT.  Remnants of a die clash can be found at the bridge of the nose.  Reverse:  A short die scratch runs NW/SE above the M in DIME.
