Description:  D/D Northeast

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Circular die scratch pattern centered on the jaw.  Short die scratch shows inside ear.  Die scratches are seen behind ear and along the jaw line.  Short die scratch shows in the field at the edge of the bow tie.  Die scratches run from the bust to the 1 in date.  Die gouge in the field at the edge of the rim SW from the bottom of the 7 of date.  Obverse Stage B:  Die crack on back of forehead in line with the word WE.  Reverse Stage A:  Die chip shows on the lower right edge of the left wheat stalk S/W from the U of UNITED.  Reverse Stage B:  None noted.

 Description:  D/D South

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Die gouge shows on the edge of the back of Lincoln’s bust to the right of the Y of LIBERTY.  E/W die scratch shows on upper ear.  Reverse:  Die gouge under and between OF.  A long diagonal die scratch runs SE from the lower right edge of the left wheat stalk under the O in OF ending near the end of the right wheat stem edge.  A second die scratch is seen above and parallels the die scratch under the O in OF ending just above the right wheat stem edge.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Die gouge (dot) in the field to the right of the mintmark.  Heavy and slightly curving west by south die scratch from the upper left area of the W of WE.  Die gouge (dot) connects the scratch from the W of WE, slightly to the left.  Short die scratches show from the rim between the D of GOD and the W of WE.  Obverse Stage B:  Die crack in the hair above the ear runs east from the edge of the back of the head ending on the forehead.  Reverse Stage A:  Light NW/SE die scratch connects the lower area of the O and N of ONE.  Light WNW/ESE die scratch centered between the N of ONE and the EN of CENT.  Reverse Stage B:  Dot sized die gouge in the field at the edge of the left side (centered) of the T of CENT.
