Description:  S/S/S North & South

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  N/S die scratches; at the hair line, eye nose and throat.  Die scratches to the right of the 1 of date.  Die scratch to the left of the 1 of date.  North south die scratches at LIBERTY; strong die scratch runs north from the top of the R of LIBERTY.  Strong die scratch above the O of GOD.  Obverse Stage B:  Die gouge at the base of the bust under the mint mark.  Reverse Stage A:  Die scratches run N/S about the N and T of CENT; strong die scratch runs north from the N of CENT.  Die scratch runs south from the bottom of the right arm of the last T of STATES.  Reverse Stage B:  None noted.

Description:  S/S North

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Long NNE/SSW die scratch right of the beard.  N/S die scratches left of the 1 in the date.  NNE/SSW die scratches through the BERT of LIBERTY.  Obverse Stage B:  Die chip on the chin.  Obverse Stage C:  Short die scratch to the upper right of the last T of TRUST.  Die chip under ear lobe.  Obverse Stage D:  Die gouge to the right of the mintmark.  Obverse Stage E:  None noted.  Reverse Stage A:  N/S die scratches through the ON of ONE and the E in CENT.  Reverse Stage B:  Stage A markers are faint.  Reverse Stage C:  None noted.  Reverse Stage D:  Second reverse.  Large die chip to the right of the N of CENT; a second die chip shows under the first.  Reverse Stage E:  Die crack on lower right of the right wheat stalk.

1947-S 1¢ WRPM-003

Description:  S/S North

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  E/W die gouges above the G of GOD.  Die scratch runs SW from the bottom of the G of GOD.  Die scratch runs NE from the top right edge of the 1 in date ending in the field above.  SW/NE die scratch to the left of the mintmark.  Multiple E/W die gouges on the lower bust.  Obverse Stage B:  All Stage A die markers are weak.  Reverse Stage A:  N/S die scratches inside the O and to the right of the O of ONE.  Die scratches form an elongated upside down V to the right of the O of ONE.  Die scratch runs south from the field ending in the lower last S of STATES.  Reverse Stage B:  Die gouge under the lower arm of the F in OF.

Description:  S/S East

Die Markers:  Obverse:  N/S die scratches run from the back of the lower bust through the RTY of LIBERTY ending in the field in the back of the head with one die scratch ending below the IN and the G of GOD.  Die gouge on the top right of the D of GOD.  N/S die scratches to the left of the 1 of the date ending east the chin.  Reverse:  Die scratch left of the first U of UNUM.  N/S die scratches on both sides of the T of CENT; with a die chip on the die scratch to the lower right of the T of CENT.  N/S die scratch between the A and the second T of STATES.  Strong die scratch between the E and R of AMERICA.

Description:  Sans Serif S over Trumpet Tail S Mintmark

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Doubled die listed in the Wexler files as WDDO-006.  A CCW spread shows on the letters of IGWT.  Long die scratch in the field east of profile.  Die scratches in the field above and to the right of the 19 of date.  Die scratches below and between the 1 and 9 of date.  Die scratch runs south from the bottom of the 4 to the mintmark.  Die scratches run north from the tops of the TY of LIBERTY.  Die gouge at the top left of the T of LIBERTY.  Obverse Stage B:  Die gouge right of the E of WE.  Die gouge left of the upper first T of TRUST.  Obverse Stage C:  Die chip on edge of beard.  Die chip on edge of lapel below the bow tie.  Obverse Stage D:  Die chip to the right of the ear.  Reverse Stage A:  N/S die scratch above the L of PLURIBUS.  Short die scratch shows inside the upper E of UNITED.  Die chip in the field to the upper right of the M of AMERICA.  Strong N/S die scratch between the bottom legs of the AM of AMERICA.  Reverse Stage B:  Die chip inside lower N of UNITED.  Reverse Stage C:  Die gouge to the right of the first U of UNUM.  Reverse Stage D:  Die chip on edge of right wheat stalk left of the last S of STATES.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  N/S Die gouge on forehead ending at hair line.  N/S die scratches run from the nose to the chin.  N/S die scratches under the chin.  N/S die scratch right of the mint mark.  Obverse Stage B:  All markers are now faint.  Reverse Stage A:  N/S die scratches on most of reverse.  Strong die scratch runs south from between U and N of UNITED threw the O in OF ending at the top of the wheat stem.  Long die scratch runs south from the upper loop of the first S of STATES continuing south ending between the E and R of AMERICA.  Reverse Stage B:  Most N/S die scratches no longer show or faint.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Trumpet Tail mintmark.  A vertical die scratch can be found to the right of the upper Y in LIBERTY.  Numerous N/S die scratches can be found to the left and to the right of the bust.  Reverse:  Die scratches run SW/NE below the E in EPU.  Die scratches run north from the top left of the N in ONE.  Numerous other die scratches run mostly N/S throughout the reverse.
