1948 10¢ WDDR-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  Doubling shows very strong in a CW rotation on all the letters, the flame, torch holder, the branches and elements of the branches.  The hubbings appear to be of equal strength as the letters are extra thick with notches.  The best doubling can be seen on the flame.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Die scratch NW from the lower left curve of the 8 in the date and just above the horizontal bar of the 4.  Die scratch SE from the lower right side of the 4 in the date.  Reverse:  Light die scratch SE from the top of the right side of the M in UNUM to the dot.  Long die scratch SE from the left lower leg of the first A in AMERICA.  Die scratch NW from the first U in UNUM through the lower acorn and to the torch holder.
