1960 10¢ Pr WDDO-004

Description:  Light doubling can be seen on the designer's initials, the hair above the ear, the hair on the back of the head, and at the eyelid.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Die chip in the cavity above the eyelid and where the forehead begins.  Die chip (dot) just right of the vertical and above the horizontal bars of the L in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  The reverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1960 10¢ Pr WDDR-001.  A strong CW spread can be seen on all letters and dots around the rim, EPU, and the right stem.  Strongest at UNITED.  Die chips on the leaves touching the torch holder on the left-hand side.  Die chip at the left side of the A in STATES positioned between the center and top.

1960 10¢ Pr WDDO-005          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  Strong spread towards the center on the designer's initials, IGWT, LIBERTY, and the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Die gouge (dot) on the top of the 0 in the date. N/S die scratch left of the vertical bar of the last T of TRUST.  Reverse:  E/W die scratch on the upper O of ONE from center to right.  Second E/W die scratch on the left upper O of ONE lower than the first scratch.

Description:  Strong extra thickness shows on the designer's initials, IGWT, the lower profile, and the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Short die scratch inside the upper O of GOD.  Die scratch between the lower O and D of GOD.  Two short die scratches north from the 9 of the date.  Reverse:  NE/SW Scratch on top right-hand leaf.  Short NE/SW die scratch at the lower right of the P in PLURIBUS.

Description:  A medium spread toward the center shows on IGWT, date, designer's initials and light on LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Three N/S die scratches between the designer's initials and the 1 of the date.  Reverse:  Die chip centered between the E and D of UNITED.  Die chip between the T and E of UNITED near the bottom.  Die scratch through the bottom vertical bar of the E and the upper vertical bar of the T of UNITED.  Two die chips on the lower 1st S of STATES.
