The obverse design used on the 2010 Lincoln cents is the same obverse that was used on the Lincoln cents when they were introduced in 1909. The target area for doubled dies on this design is the area around the bottom of Lincoln's ear, the ERTY of LIBERTY, and the date. 2010 marks the introduction of a new reverse design for the Lincoln cent. The reverse bears an image of a union shield with the denomination ONE CENT on a scroll across the lower shield and the inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM across the top of the shield. Thirteen vertical stripes on the lower shield represent the original 13 states. The target area would include the horizontal bar running across the upper shield above the vertical stripes, the central most vertical stripes, and the top of the scroll. While the entire obverse and reverse should be examined, the indicated target areas are where you are most likely to find doubled die doubling.
