1972-D 50¢ WSDO-001          Series Doubling

Description: A light CCW spread from a pivot at about 11:00 shows on IGWT and LIBERTY.

Die Markers: Obverse: Will vary among the different working dies that were affected. Reverse: Will vary among the different working dies that were affected.

Comments: Placed in use partway through 1971 and remained in use through all of 1972. It can be found on coins of all three mints.





1972-D 50¢ WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A Class I CCW spread shows on IGWT, the date, LIBERTY, the upper hair details, the profile below the nose, and the front of the neck.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short vertical die scratch can be found to the left of the R in LIBERTY.  A diagonal die scratch can be found below the N of IN.  Reverse:  None noted.

Description:  A close spread towards the center shows on LIBERTY.
