1964-D 50¢ WRPM-001

Description: D/D South

Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: First Obverse: WDDO-??? Short N/S die scratch between the upper area of the R and T in LIBERTY that is closer to the T. Doubling on hair, TY of LIBERTY, WE TRUST and 64 of date. Obverse Stage B: Stage A die scratch abraded away. Die scratch SW from the rim to the right of the I in LIBERTY. Die scratch SE from the rip of the bust. Obverse Stage C: Two die gouges to the lower left of the I in LIBERTY. Obverse Stage D: Second Obverse: WDDO-???. Series of light, mostly NNE/SSW, die scratches on either side of the I in LIBERTY. Reverse Stage A: Flared G Designer’s Initials Very short die scratches, in the form of dashes, beginning at the left lower side of the U in UNITED then ascending upward until they reach the upper left of the A in STATES, then descending downward again through most of the lower letters of TES of STATES, OF and AMERICA. Die scratches through the top of HALF and DOLLAR. Die gouge on the left side of the fifth ray between the star and EPU. Reverse Stage B: Stage A die scratches at USA are weaker. Stage A die scratches at HALF DOLLAR abraded away. Die gouge still present. Light NE/SW die scratches throughout the field. Die scratch SE from the lower right of the last A in AMERICA. V-shaped die scratch above the H of HALF. Die scratch north from the left upper apex of the A of HALF and through the star above. Reverse Stage C: Stage B die markers still present. Reverse Stage D: Weaker Stage B die markers.

Description: D/D Tilted (Rotated)

Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: WDDO-???. N/S die scratches from the upper neck running through the D of GOD. Obverse Stage B: Die scratches polished away two new vertical die scratches (short and a long) below the bust SW of WE. Long slightly broken die scratch from the chin and through the D of GOD. Reverse Stage A: Die dot in the field centered above eagle's right leg and below the opening of the second and third feathers. Reverse Stage B: Thick short die gouge on bottom of the second T in STATES.

1964-D 50¢ WRPM-006

Description: D/D North

Die Markers: Obverse: The obverse is a doubled die variety listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1964-D 50¢ WDDO-003. A very strong tripled CCW spread from a pivot at about 11:00 shows on LIBERTY, IGWT, the date, the designer’s initials, and the hair at the top and back of the head. Numerous SW/NE die scratches can be found to the left of the top of the head and to the right of the entire back of the head. Reverse: Flanged G in FG.

Die Markers: Obverse: Normal Hair, WMDO-002 (master die). Long die scratch SE from the upper left side of the D in GOD to the 9 in the date. Die scratch SSE from both ends of the horizontal bar of the last T in TRUST. Die scratches south from the chin. Reverse: Flanged G. Two small die gouges in the field right of center from the first L in DOLLAR.

Stage A chip is very weak. Reverse Stage A: Die chip centered on the inside of the right upright of the second U in PLURIBUS. WNW/ESE die scratches above the L in HALF. Reverse Stage B: Die chip at PLURIBUS still present. Die scratches abraded away.
