Description: S/S Southeast

Die Markers: Obverse: Many die scratches between the LIBE in LIBERTY and the rim. Short N/S die scratches in the hair. Strong concentric die scratch below the date. Old N/S die scratches near the rim at 3 o'clock. Large die gouge west of the nose. Reverse: Strong die scratch extends S from the first T in STATES towards the left olive leaf cluster. Strong die scratch extends S from the upper olive. Strong NNW/SSE die scratch in the last U in PLURIBUS. Strong NNW/SSE die scratch on the torch right of the overlapping olive leaves. Die gouge between the upper O and N in ONE. Die gouge below the left side of the E in UNITED.

1948-S 10c WRPM-002

Description: S/S/S West and West

Die Markers: Obverse: LDS. Old N/S die scratches above and below the nose. Reverse: LDS. Die crack runs from the rim, through the last S in STATES, and down the right side of the flame. NW/SE die scratch left of the upper olive. Thin N/S die scratches, likely related to a die clash, between the lower olive and the L in PLURIBUS. Weak NW/SE die scratch through the E in ONE. Thin die scratch extends SE from the bottom of the torch. Thin die scratch extends S from the last U in PLURIBUS. A few N/S die scratches through the ME in DIME.

Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: None Noted. Obverse Stage B: Die is deteriorated. Date and designer’s initials are very weak from abrasion. Reverse Stage A: Die crack south from the rim at about 12:15 o’clock stopping between STATES OF. Die scratch ENE from right center of the last A in AMERICA to the dot. Reverse Stage B: Die is deteriorated. Die crack from the rim runs further south into the right side of the torch flame.

Die Markers: Obverse: Die chip at the top of the lower inside hole of the B in LIBERTY. Die chip between the head and the R in LIBERTY. Reverse: Weak WNW/ESE die scratch center on the flame of the torch. Light die swirls on the olive leaves that touch the torch. Die chip on the tip and below the tip of the center of the olive leaf cluster that touches the torch.

Die Markers: Obverse: N/S die scratches at the bridge of the nose. E/W die scratches above and below the LI of LIBERTY. Die scratch nearly north from the top of the chin. Short die scratches south from below the chin. N/S die scratches in the field behind the neck. Reverse: N/S die scratch between the upper area of the D and I of DIME. N/S die scratch between the upper area of the I and M of DIME. Die scratch SE from the upper right side of the E in DIME. Die scratch south from the lower right side of the torch flame. Die Markers: Obverse: About N/S die scratch inside the ear. N/S die scratch between the forehead and the Y in LIBERTY. Die scratch south from the upper right side of the second T in TRUST. Reverse: N/S die scratches through the TES of STATES. Die scratch pattern NW from the N of ONE to the PL of PLURIBUS then turning north and running up the left side of the olive and olive leaves. NNW/SSE die scratches through the upper right hand oak leaf.

Die Markers: Obverse: Two die gouges atop the upper right side of the hair. Light die scratch west from the lower left side of the L in LIBERTY that curves upward. Reverse: Numerous light N/S die scratches on the reverse. NNE/SSW die scratch connecting the first U in PLURIBUS to the olive branch. Two strong NNW/SSE die scratches connecting the stems of the upper oak leaf and the right upper oak leaf. Two strong SSE die scratches from the leaf oak leaf and the torch holder.

Description: S/S Tilted (Rotated)

Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Strong N/S die scratch right of the 1 in the date. Weak NW/SE die scratches between the neck and IGWT. Die scratches extend NW from the lips. NE/SW die scratch in the lower opening of the E in LIBERTY. Short, curving die scratches in the hair at the top of the head. Strong N/S die scratches on the neck below the ear. Large die gouge touches the rim above the right side of the E in LIBERTY. Obverse Stage B: Die scratches through IGWT and LIBERTY completely abraded away. Die scratches below ear nearly completely abraded away. All other Stage A markers present. E/W die crack through the hair at the top of the head meets a second NW/SE die crack through the hair at the back of the head. Strong NE/SW die scratch on the nose. Strong NW/SE die scratches on the neck behind and below the ear. Reverse Stage A: Many thin circular die scratches on the center of the torch and the leaves overlapping it. Circular die scratches on the upper oak leaves. N/S die scratch between the top of the torch and the oak leaves. Strong die scratch extends SW from the lower acorn just right of the S in PLURIBUS. Die gouge south of the second U in PLURIBUS. Reverse Stage B: Die scratch SW from the acorn completely abraded away. All other Stage A markers present. NW/SE die crack over the base of the torch. Weak die clash through the olive branch. Strong N/S die scratch between the US in PLURIBUS. Strong NW/SE die scratch below the first U in PLURIBUS. NW/SE die scratch to the right of the stem of the olive branch. NW/SE die scratch near the torch between the lower acorn and the leftmost oak leaf cluster.
