1958-D 10¢ WRPM-001

Description: D/D Tilted (Rotated)

Die Markers: Obverse: Straight G in GOD. Die chip on the lower nose. NW/SE die scratch extends from the nose into the field in front of the lips. Die gouge to the right of the Y in LIBERTY. Long die gouge above the left side of the U in TRUST. Reverse: Two strong N/S die scratches to the left of the mintmark. N/S die scratches between the upper olive leaves and STATES. Die scratch runs south from the right side of the N in UNUM to the right side of the M in DIME.

Comments: The Bordner files originally had two stages for this die, but based on the photos included they were found to be two different dies. The earlier stage was thus removed from this listing. If this earlier stage is ever resubmitted, a new listing will be created for it.









1958-D 10¢ WRPM-002

Description: D/D Tilted (Rotated)

Die Markers: Obverse: Thin E/W die crack on the nose. Strong mostly N/S die scratches throughout the fields, on the neck, and in the hair. Strong X-shaped die scratches behind the head. Strong die scratch connects the bottom left corner of the D in GOD and the first T in TRUST. Strong die scratch extends S from the N in IN. Die gouge below the E in LIBERTY. Reverse: Strong slightly curved die scratch on the upper torch and the flame. NW/SE die scratch through the UN in UNITED. E/W die scratches through the TED in UNITED. Die scratch extends SW from the I in AMERICA to an oak leaf. Old E/W die scratches through the CA in AMERICA. Irregular die gouges on the torch between the tops of the overlapping leaves. Short die scratch extends NE from the rim below the D in DIME. Die gouge below the E in UNITED. Die gouge below the C in AMERICA. Many N/S die scratches through and above the olive branch.

Description: D/D Tilted (Rotated)

Die Markers: Obverse: Flanged G in GOD. Long die crack south from the rim at about 1:00 o’clock intersecting a SSE die crack that turns south and runs through the back of the head. Light die chip above the nostril. Short NNE/SSW die gouge at the back of the lips. Die chips on the cheek. Reverse: E/W die scratch connecting the bottom of the DI of DIME. Die crack running NNW from the rim at about 5:30 o’clock through the I and M in DIME and to the knob on the right side of the torch base. E/W die scratches through the lower letters in OF AMERICA. N/S die crack on the second right hand flame.

Description: D/D/D North and Tilted (Rotated)

Die Markers: Obverse: Flanged G in GOD. SSW die scratches from the bottom of the R in LIBERTY. Light die chip above the nostril. Die crack west from the rim at 2:00 o’clock running into the hair. Reverse: Die clash at the lower olive to the L in PLURIBUS. Die clash at the lower area of the right upper oak leaves. Heavy NNW/SSE die scratches in the left lower area of the reverse. Lighter NNW/SSE die scratches on most of the reverse.
