1968-P,D,S 1¢ WWHO-001          Doubled Working Hub

Description:  A very slight CW spread shows on the LIBE of LIBERTY.  A spread towards the rim shows on IGWT.

Die Markers:  The obverse and reverse die markers will vary with each affected working die.

Comments:  Numerous working dies for all three Mints were created with this doubled working hub including S-Mint proof dies.













1968-D 1¢ WDDR-001          "Best Of" Variety

Description:  A very strong Class V CW spread from a pivot at approximately 7:00 shows on the letters of USA, EPU, the dots, the designer’s initials, and the letters of CENT.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  A horizontal die scratch connects the upper T and R of TRUST.  A short, strong die scratch runs west from the upper S of TRUST.  Obverse Stage B:  A die scratch runs from the D of GOD ESE to the W of WE.  A die scratch runs ESE from the bottom of the L in LIBERTY.  Reverse Stage A:  A short, vertical die scratch can be found between the C and A of AMERICA.  A small die gouge can be found to the left of the center of the O in ONE.  Reverse Stage B:  Parallel die scratches run NW from the upper right N and the top of the E in ONE.  A die scratch runs NNW from the top of the left cornice to the E of UNITED.
