Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Two short die scratches run SE from the eye.  A die gouge can be found on the forehead north of the eyebrow.  Obverse Stage B:  Same as Stage A.  Reverse Stage A:  None significant.  Reverse Stage B:  A die gouge touches the upper right side of the O in ONE.  A die scratch runs ENE from the top left of the N in ONE.

Description:  Extra thickness shows on the letters of LIBERTY.  It is most pronounced on the verticals of the T and Y.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short, nearly vertical die scratch can be found to the left of the 2nd T in TRUST.  A die crack runs from SSW to NNE through the hair on the upper back of the head.  A large die chip can be found on the die crack well south of the D in GOD.  Reverse:  The reverse of this variety is also a doubled die that is listed in the files as 2003 1¢ WDDR-039.  Doubling shows on the left side of the 7th Memorial column to the right of the statue’s legs.  A small die gouge can be found below the bottom right tip of the Memorial.  A die gouge touches the left side of the O in ONE.

Description:  Strong extra thickness shows on USA, EPU, the dots, the Memorial steps which are extremely thick and wavy, the statue, the designer’s initials, and slightly on ONE CENT.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  A small die gouge can be found at the rim above the left side of the N of IN.  A die gouge can be found on the front fold of hair just above the forehead.  Obverse Stage B:  A die gouge can be found just below the left side of the D in GOD.  A die gouge can be found below the RT of LIBERTY.  Reverse Stage A:  The field next to the rim from 10:00 CW to 2:00 shows a strong depression that is evidence of a strongly tilted hub or die that moved back into proper alignment at some point during the hubbing.  A die gouge (dot) can be found in the lower 11th bay.  Reverse Stage B:  A die chip can be found in the lower E of EPU.  A die chip can be found on the top left side of the 2nd column.  A die crack and die chip can be found on the Memorial roof north of the 2nd bay.

Description:  A partial extra column runs through the upper right side of the statue.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Die pitting can be found above the right side of the 1st zero in the date.  Reverse:  A small die gouge can be found to the left of the lower U in UNITED.  A die gouge can be found below and between the U and N in UNITED.  A small die gouge can be found to the right of the top of the T in CENT.

Description:  Doubling can be found on the lower left side of the 7th Memorial column to the right of the statue’s legs.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge can be found above the 1st zero in the date.  Reverse:  A die gouge touches the upper right 8th column.  Die gouges can be found above the right Memorial base and north of the F in FG.  Die gouges can be found above the right cornice.  A die crack runs from the right cornice to the R in AMERICA.

Description:  Doubling can be found on the lower left side of the 7th Memorial column to the right of the statue’s legs.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  The obverse of this variety is also a doubled die that is listed as 2003 1¢ WDDO-003.  Extra thickness shows on the letters of LIBERTY.  It is most pronounced on the verticals of the T and Y.  A small die gouge can be found between the upper R and T in LIBERTY.  A small die gouge can be found to the left of the I of IN.  Reverse:  A die gouge can be found between the last column and the 2nd A in AMERICA.  A die gouge can be found north of the F in FG.
