1950-D 50¢ WDDO-001 Description: A CW spread shows on the date. Die Markers: Obverse: A die scratch curves ESE from the bottom right of the E in LIBERTY. Parallel die scratches run from NW to SE through the lower I in LIBERTY. Reverse: The reverse of this variety is an over mint mark (D/S) that is listed in the Wexler OMM Files as 1950-D 50¢ WOMM-001. A horizontal die scratch can be found under the E in STATES. A die scratch runs SE from the lower right of the bell clapper. Parallel die scratches run SSE from the bottom of the B in PLURIBUS through the M in UNUM. Parallel die scratches run NNW from the top of the I and the top of the B in PLURIBUS. Higher grade specimens are needed to identify die markers and whether or not there is additional doubling.
1950-D 50¢ WDDR-003 Description: Extra thickness with some separation shows on USA, the dots, HALF DOLLAR, and EPU. A spread to the east shows on the eagle and the bell clapper. Die Markers: Obverse: A small die gouge can be found to the right of the lower B in LIBERTY. A horizontal die scratch can be found below the E of LIBERTY. A long die scratch runs north to south to the left of the 1. Reverse: The mint mark is an RPM (D/D South) listed as 1950-D 50¢ WRPM-002. A diagonal die gouge can be found above the E in EPU. A die scratch runs SE from the M of UNUM. A die gouge can be found between the upper E and S of STATES. A die gouge can be found inside the lower 2nd S of STATES.
