1964-D 50¢ WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A very strong CCW spread from a pivot at about 12:00 shows on LIBERTY, IGWT, the date, the designer’s initials, the rear point of the bust, and the hair.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A: Very light weak die scratch ESE from the lower right side of the G in GOD.  Obverse Stage B: Inverted V-shaped die scratch from the rim between the 6 and 4 of the date.  SW die scratches from the first T in TRUST to the 6 in the date.  Light NW/SE die scratches through the vertical bar of the T in LIBERTY.  Two slightly wavy die scratches west from the left upper side of the T in LIBERTY with the upper scratch turning NW to the rim.  Light N/S die scratches inside the ear.  Die scratches SW left of the I in LIBERTY.  Stage A die scratches abraded away.  Obverse Stage C: Die scratches at the I and T of LIBERTY still present other stage B die scratches abraded away.  NNE/SSW die scratch between the U and S of TRUST.  Reverse Stage A: Flanged G in FG.  Die scratch NW from left center of the A in DOLLAR, through the top of the second L and through the star between the two L’s.  Reverse Stage B: Many N/S die scratches in the fields.  Heavier die scratch from lower center of the second T in STATES, SW to the star.  Heavier die scratch S by W from the bottom of the right leg of the A in STATES, through the star and to the ray.  Stage A markers abraded away.  Reverse Stage C: Less defined N/S die scratches in the field.  Die scratches from the A and second T of STATES still present.

1964-D 50¢ WDDO-002

1964-D 50¢ WDDO-003          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A very strong tripled CCW spread from a pivot at about 11:00 shows on LIBERTY, IGWT, the date, the designer’s initials, and the hair at the top and back of the head.

Die Markers:  Obverse: Numerous SW/NE die scratches can be found to the left of the top of the head and to the right of the entire back of the head.  Reverse: Flanged G in FG.  The reverse is an RPM variety listed in the Wexler RPM Files as 1964-D 50¢ WRPM-006.  It is a D/D North.

1964-D 50¢ WDDO-005          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A strong Class II tripled spread towards the center shows on the RTY of LIBERTY, IGWT, the date, the designer’s initials, and the hair at the top and back of the head.

Die Markers:  Obverse: A die scratch runs from NNW to SSE just to the left of the lips.  Reverse: Flanged G in FG.  A horizontal die gouge connects the centers of the N and I in UNITED.

1964-D 50¢ WDDO-006          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A Class II spread towards the center shows on the ERTY of LIBERTY, IGWT, the date, the designer’s initials, and the hair at the top and back of the head.

Die Markers:  Obverse: A small die gouge (dot) can be found to the right of the upper 4.  A small die gouge (dot) can be found SE of the Y in LIBERTY.  Reverse: Straight G in FG.

1964-D 50¢ WDDO-007

1964-D 50¢ WDDO-008          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A CCW spread from a pivot at about 10:00 shows on the TY of LIBERTY, IGWT, the date, the designer’s initials, and the hair on the back of the head.

Die Markers:  Obverse: A small die gouge can be found north of the right side of the U in TRUST.  Strong, nearly horizontal die scratches can be found to the left of the upper B in LIBERTY.  Reverse: Flanged G in FG.  Several SW/NE die scratches can be found above the D mintmark.  Numerous N/S die scratches run through the AM in AMERICA.

Die Markers:  Obverse: A die scratch runs SE from the bottom of the nose to the lips.  Reverse: Flanged G in FG.

Die Markers:  Obverse: A die scratch runs south from the bottom of the nose just to the right of the tip of the nose.  Reverse: Flanged G in FG.
