1965 50¢ WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A Class V CCW spread from a pivot at about 10:00 shows on IGWT, the date, the hair on the back of the head, and the RTY in LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Three parallel die scratches run south from the bottom of the E in WE.  A short vertical die gouge can be found to the right of the upper E in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A vertical die gouge can be found just to the left of the upper first S in STATES.

1965 50¢ WDDR-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A strong Class II spread towards the center shows on USA, the stars under USA, the stars above EPU, EPU, and the upper edge of the banner.  A closer spread shows on HALF DOLLAR, the stars above HALF DOLLAR, and the four stars to the right of the eagle’s head.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Parallel die scratches run SW from the upper I of IN.  Reverse:  A short die gouge protrudes from the lower right side of the star below the left side of the A in STATES.  A die gouge can be found to the right of the lower first L in DOLLAR.

1965 50¢ SMS WDDR-002          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A Class V CCW spread from a pivot at about 6:00 shows on USA, the stars under USA, and slightly on the stars above EPU.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die scratch runs WNW from the top left of the R in LIBERTY to the rim.  Reverse:  A short vertical die gouge can be found to the left of the U in UNITED.  A die gouge can be found on the banner above the M in UNUM.
