Comments: Since this
doubling traces all the way back to the master die, all 1944 dated quarters
from all three Mints will show this doubling.
Consequently there should be no premium value added to these quarters if
they just display the master die doubling.

Die Markers: Obverse: A die scratch runs ESE from the lower
right of the vertical bar of the L in LIBERTY.
A die gouge curves south from the center left of the one in the date. Reverse: The reverse is a doubled die listed in
the Wexler Doubled Die files as 1944 25¢ WDDR-001. A CW spread from a pivot at about 4:00 shows
on UNITED STATES OF, QUARTER DOLLAR, and slightly on EPU. A die scratch connects the leaves above the L
and A in DOLLAR just below the branch.

Die Markers: Obverse: A small die gouge shows just above the
queue ribbon. A small die gouge can be
found above the right end of the horizontal crossbar of the 2nd 4 in
the date. Reverse:
A die gouge can be found above the bottom loop of the 1st
S in STATES. Die gouges can be found between
the bottoms of the 1st S and 1st T of STATES. A die gouge extends southwest from the upper
left 1st T of STATES.

UNITED. A nearly horizontal die scratch
