1946-S 25¢ WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A strong spread towards the center shows on LIBERTY

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  N/S die scratches through the E of LIBERTY.  Die gouge through 9 just below upper loop.  Die crack upper forehead east through hair.  Obverse Stage B: Die scratch through the E of LIBERTY is weaker.  Die crack across the base of the bust.  Reverse Stage A:  Die scratches SE from the right side of the left lower inner leaf.  Reverse Stage B: New reverse die.  The reverse is an RPM listed in the Wexler RPM Files as 1946-S 25¢ WRPM-002.  It is an S/S West.

1946-S 25¢ WDDO-002

Description:  A spread towards the center shows on the date, the bottom of the ribbon, and slightly on LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Two strong parallel N/S die scratches can be found to the left of the upper nose and the lower forehead.  Reverse:  A short strong die scratch runs NNE from the top of the O in DOLLAR.

1946-S 25¢ WDDO-003

Description:  A spread towards the center shows on the LIBE in LIBERTY

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Numerous die scratches run NW/SE through the TY in LIBERTY.  Nearly vertical die scratches can be found just to the left of the eye.  Reverse:  Trumpet tail S mint mark.
