1947 25¢ WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A CCW spread shows on LIBERTY, the date, the bottom of the ribbon, the designer’s initials, and slightly on IGWT.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die scratch runs SW/NE below the LI of LIBERTY.  A die crack runs across the base of the bust.  Reverse:  A die gouge runs from the E to the R in AMERICA.  A die scratch runs north from the O in OF.  A die crack runs down the eagle’s right wing.

Description:  A spread towards the center shows on the date, the bottom of the ribbon, the designer’s initials, and slightly on IGWT.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die scratch runs NE from the top right of the N of IN.  A die scratch runs NW from the top of the W in WE.  A die scratch runs from SSW to NNE to the right of the upper queue.  Reverse:  A short die gouge runs north from the bottom right of the 1st R in QUARTER.  Vertical die scratches can be found to the left of the lower T of in QUARTER.  A short vertical die scratch can be found to the left of the bottom of the E in QUARTER.
