1976-D 25¢ WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A strong CW spread from a pivot at about 6:00 shows on LIBERTY.  A lesser spread shows on IGWT and the upper queue.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A N/S die scratch can be found NE of the mint mark.  A die scratch runs SW from the upper left B of LIBERTY.  A die scratch runs north from the lower right R of LIBERTY.  Reverse:  None noted.

Description:  A close CCW spread from a pivot at about 7:00 shows on LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A SW/NE die scratch can be found in the field below the RU of TRUST.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs NNE from the star below the A in STATES.

1976-D 25¢ WDDR-001

Description:  A close spread towards the center shows on the LLAR of DOLLAR, the designer’s initials, the ICA of AMERICA, and the STA of STATES.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A light die scratch runs N/S between the B and E of LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs SW/NE to the left of the second L in DOLLAR.

Description:  A spread towards the center shows on QUARTER DOLLAR, the designer’s initials, the lower part of the drum, and the outer fingers.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  None significant.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs NW from the bottom left of the second S in STATES.  A die scratch runs SW/NE inside the upper R in DOLLAR.
