Description:  An extremely close spread towards the center shows on LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Die gouge left of the 9 in the date. Die gouge near the rim below the queue.  Reverse:  Die damage below the right side of the O in DOLLAR. Die gouge between the last S in STATES and the O in OF.

1960 25¢ Pr WDDO-002          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  Strong extra thickness spread towards the center shows on LIBERTY, the date, the designer’s initials, the lower queue, and IGWT.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge (dot) can be found on the bottom back of the bust just left of the ribbon.  Four vertical die scratches can be found to the left of the upper queue just below the hair.  Reverse:  A short die gouge can be found below the lower right of the A in QUARTER.

Description:  A Class II spread towards the center shows on LIBERTY and IGWT.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short nearly vertical die scratch can be found to the right of the upper I in LIBERTY.  A short diagonal die gouge can be found on the eyebrow just above the back of the eye.  A diagonal die scratch can be found above the front of the eyebrow.  A diagonal die scratch can be found on the nose just above the nostril.  Reverse:  None noted.

Description:  A very close Class II spread towards the center shows on IGWT, LIBERTY, and the 19 in the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die scratch runs SW/NE between the 9 and 6 in the date.  Reverse:  The reverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1960 25¢ Pr WDDR-005.  Strong extra thickness plus separation lines show on USA, QUARTER DOLLAR, EPU, the leaves, and the branches.  A vertical die scratch can be found on the upper neck of the eagle.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge can be found on the top of the zero in the date.  Reverse:  A short die gouge runs west from the top of the right vertical bar of the N in UNITED.

Description:  A strong Class VI spread towards the center shows on USA, EPU, QUARTER DOLLAR, the wreath, both of the wings, and the eagle’s tail feathers.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  None noted.  Reverse:  A horizontal die gouge can be found on the right wing just left of the leaves.  A die gouge (dot) can be found near the back of the eagle’s head.  A die gouge (dot) can be found on the left wing just above the top right leave.  Two die scratches can be found on the vertical bar of the second T in STATES.  A die gouge can be found centered on the arrow feathers.
