Description: Doubling shows inside the lower right opening in the handle of General Burgoyne’s sword.

Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A small die chip can be found to the right of the designer’s initial. A die chip can be found on the base of the bust north of the R in QUARTER. A small die gouge (dot) is found at the back of Washington’s neck at the level of the bottom of T in TRUST. Obverse Stage B: Same as Stage A. Reverse Stage A: A small die gouge (dot) is found just left of the doubling. Reverse Stage B: Stage A marker still present. Die chip between the ring finger and the guard of the sword.

Die Markers: Feeder finger damage between the Y in LIBERTY and the neck. Die gouge centered in the D in UNITED. Reverse: NNW/SSE die scratch through the S in SURRENDER. Two NNW/SSE die scratches above the handle of the sword. Die gouge in the lower opening of the last E in SURRENDER.
