Description: Strong Class I CW spread shows on USA, eagle's beak, eye, head feathers, left wing, tail, leg, and talons.

Die Markers: Obverse: Two strong parallel die scratches east of top of 7 in date. Heavy die gouge north from top end of center crossbar of E in STATES. Rough die surface around TAT of STATES. Reverse: Die crack SW to NE through upper left leaves.

Die Markers: Obverse: Doubling on center bottom of M in AMERICA and the broken wing tip distinguishes this variety from other 1857 1¢ doubled die varieties. Reverse: None noted.
