Die Markers: Obverse: Heavy die gouge well southeast of IN.  Horizontal die crack across the top of the eyebrow, which turns north, splits, and runs through the front of the forehead toward the hairline, with two small die chips in the crack. Curving die crack in the top of the hair, below WE. Reverse: Die gouges under ST in STATES. Light die crack across the top of the shield above EPL. Light die crack on the left side of O in ONE, then running southeast through the corner of the scroll.

2023 1¢ WDDR-002

Description:  Mild extra thickness shows on JFM and LM and split serifs show on UNITED.

Die Markers: Obverse:  Die gouge east of the indent between Lincoln’s chin and lower lip.  Die scratch running northeast in front of Lincoln’s mouth and nose.  Reverse:  Light, crisscrossing die scratches run mostly NE/SW through and left of JFM.  Two parallel die scratches run NE/SW above the right side of the shield.
