Comments: The secondary images fade as you move towards the rim on those design elements closest to the rim indicating that the misaligned hubbing took place on an early hubbing of the die. This characteristic helps in distinguishing this variety from 1941 1¢ WDDO-002 which is also a Class I variety.

Die Markers: Obverse: A small die gouge protrudes from inside the upper loop of the 9. A small die gouge can be found just above the 4 in the date. Reverse: None noted.
Description: Very strong Class VI extra thickness shows on the date and LIBERTY. Moderate extra thickness shows on the letters of IGWT.
Die Markers: Obverse: A short die scratch runs SW from the right side of the bottom of the O in GOD. A short but strong die scratch runs from WSW to ENE between GOD and WE. A die gouge can be found north of the 4. A die gouge can be found on the lower right part of the bust. Reverse: Parallel die scratches run from SW between the E and P of EPU. A strong die gouge runs from SW to NE through the lower D in UNITED. A short die gouge runs NNE from the center of the right side of the 1st A in AMERICA.
