1949-S 1¢ WDDO-001

Description:  Doubling shows on the 194 in the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  The obverse is an RPM listed in the Wexler RPM files as 1949-S 1¢ WRPM-050.  It is an S/S West.  Heavy die scratches run NNW from the back of the jacket to the right of the Y in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A long die scratch runs north from the top of the second S in STATES.  A die scratch runs south from the lower right O in ONE through the upper E in CENT.  Die scratches run south from the bottom of the C in CENT.

1949-S 1¢ WDDO-002

Description:  A 1949 “Blunt 4” date is hubbed over a 1948 “Pointed 4” date.  Doubling shows on the 194.  Extra thickness shows on LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Two parallel die scratches run from NW to SE above the bowtie.  Two parallel die scratches run from NNW to SSE northwest of the 1 in the date.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs NNW from the upper right N of ONE.  A short die scratch runs NNW from the top left T of CENT.  V-shaped die scratches can be found above the bottom of the right wheat stem.  A short die scratch runs from NNW to SSE to the left of the tip of the right wheat stem.

Description:  A 1949 “Blunt 4” date is hubbed over a 1948 “Pointed 4” date.  Doubling shows on the 194.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Die scratches form an inverted V to the right of the O in GOD. Short vertical die scratches can be found to the left of the W in WE.  Die scratches run SSE from between the one and the nine in the date.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs NNW from the top of the diagonal bar of the N of ONE.  Parallel die scratches run N/S inside the C in CENT.  A die scratch runs south from the top right of the T in CENT.
