1954 1¢ WDDO-001

Description:  An extra eyelid can be seen south of the primary eyelid.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Multiple die scratches are present between the bust and the rim.  Heavy die gouge northeast of the 4 in the date.  Die scratch southwest of U in TRUST.  Reverse:  Light die scratches run roughly vertically through PLURIBUS UNUM, NE in ONE, and ENT in CENT.  Die scratch runs SSW from C in CENT to the right wheat stem.  Light die scratches are present between the upper right wheat lines and the rim.

1954 1¢ WDDO-002

Description:  An extra eyelid can be found south of the normal eyelid.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Concentric die scratch near the rim above IN GOD WE.  Curved die scratch right of lower E in WE and between upper TR in TRUST.  Reverse:  None noted.

1954 1¢ Pr WDDR-001          "Best Of" Variety

Description:  Very strong extra thickness shows on both wheat ears and stems, EPU, and the dots.  A separation toward the center shows on STATES, AMERICA, UNUM, the right side of NE in ONE, ENT in CENT, and strongly on the right wheat ear.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  WNW to ESE die scratch through the upper ear.  Die crack SW to NE through the upper hair.  Reverse:  None significant.

1954 1¢ Pr WDDR-002

Description:  A light spread shows on EPL, the left wheat ear and stem, and OF AMERICA.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Circumferential die scratches run at the bottom of the rim under the bust.  Obverse Stage B:  New obverse die.  Numerous die scratches and gouges around the date, WE, the last T in TRUST, and on Lincoln’s neck.  Reverse Stage A:  Small die gouge on lower right side of N in CENT.  Reverse Stage B: Die gouge on N in CENT faint.

Comments:  This is a replacement for the original WDDR-002, which was found to be a duplicate of WDDR-001.  Both examples photographed were certified, making photos difficult to obtain.
