1968-S 1¢ WWHO-001

Description:  A very slight CW spread shows on the LIBE of LIBERTY.  A spread towards the rim shows on IGWT.

Die Markers:  The obverse and reverse die markers will vary with each affected working die.

Comments:  Numerous working dies for all three Mints were created with this doubled working hub including S-Mint proof dies.












1968-S 1¢ WDDO-001

Description:  Doubling shows at the top of the L in LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge can be found south of the E in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A die gouge can be found below the O in OF.  A die scratch runs south from the bottom left of the R in AMERICA.  Numerous die scratches run from SW to NE through the first four Memorial bays.  Other die scratches can be found throughout the reverse.

1968-S 1¢ WDDO-002

Description:  Doubling shows under the L in LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  A small die gouge can be found between the lower 1 and 9 in the date.  Obverse Stage B:  Same die markers but the doubling under the L is a bit weaker.  Reverse Stage A:  None significant.  Reverse Stage B:  A die gouge can be found under the right end of the horizontal crossbar of the T in UNITED.  A die gouge can be found below the left side of the R in AMERICA.

1968-S 1¢ WDDO-003

Description:  Doubling shows at the top of the LI of LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A nearly vertical die scratch can be found above the R in LIBERTY.  A die gouge can be found between the upper I and N of IN.  A strong vertical die gouge can be found to the left of the 1st T in TRUST.  Reverse:  A die gouge touches the top left of the E in UNITED.  A  die gouge can be found just to the left of the top of the F in OF.

1968-S 1¢ WDDO-004

Description:  Doubling shows at the top of the LI of LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Several die scratches run from WSW to ENE through the lower 19 in the date.  Two die scratches run SE from the bottom of the U in TRUST.  Numerous other die scratches can be found throughout the obverse.  Reverse:  This obverse die is paired with the same reverse die used for 1968-S 1¢ WDDO-001.  A die gouge can be found below the O in OF.  A die scratch runs south from the bottom left of the R in AMERICA.  Numerous die scratches run from SW to NE through the first four Memorial bays.  Other die scratches can be found throughout the reverse.

Description:  An extremely close spread towards the rim shows on the BERT of LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Small die gouges can be found below the 19 in the date.  Reverse:  A short vertical die gouge can be found to the left of the U in UNITED.

1968-S 1¢ Pr WDDO-006          "Best Of" Variety

Description:  A strong Class II spread towards the center shows on the letters of IGWT, LIBERTY, and the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die chip can be found between the rim and the 1st T of TRUST.  Reverse:  A short vertical die gouge can be found just to the right of the center of the E in AMERICA.  A short diagonal die gouge can be found in the lower 8th bay.

1968-S 1¢ Pr WDDO-007

Description:  Doubling shows on the LI of LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short die scratch runs from SSE to NNW on the bottom front of the bust.  Reverse:  A die gouge can be found inside the lower E in ONE.  A die gouge can be found at the rim below the right side of the E in ONE.

1968-S 1¢ Pr WDDR-001         "Best Of" Variety

Description:  A very nice Class I CCW spread shows on the letters of USA, ONE CENT, EPU, the dots, and the designer’s initials.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  The obverse has the doubling from the doubled working hub that is listed for this date.  Reverse:  A short curving die gouge can be found south of the lower right M in AMERICA.

Description:  Doubling shows on the top of the right cornice.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A light die scratch runs SSW from the bottom left of the R in LIBERTY.  Parallel die scratches run north to the right of the nose.  Reverse:  A short, vertical die gouge can be found to the right of the top of the T in UNITED.  A rectangular die dent can be found on the left base of the Memorial.  A die scratch runs NE from the bottom of the 10th Memorial column.
