Die Markers:  Obverse:  Numerous die scratches run NNE from the nose and forehead.  Numerous die scratches run N/S to the left of the back of the neck and head.  Other die scratches can be found throughout the obverse.  Reverse:  A small die gouge can be found inside the upper U in UNITED.  A small die gouge can be found to the left of the upper fifth Memorial column.

Description:  A very nice Class V CCW spread from a pivot at about 5:00 shows on the letters of USA, ONE, EPU, the lower left Memorial, and the designer’s initials.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  The obverse is a minor doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1962 1¢ WDDO-051. It has a doubled L in LIBERTY.  Parallel, horizontal die scratches run through the 19 in the date.  A die scratch runs ENE from the top of the T in LIBERTY.  Numerous other die scratches can be found throughout the obverse.  Reverse:  A die gouge can be found below the right end of the center horizontal bar of the E in CENT.  Die clash marks can be found in the 3rd Memorial bay.  Numerous die scratches run mostly north to south above the right side of the Memorial roof.  Numerous other die scratches can be found throughout the reverse.

Description:  A Class I CCW spread shows on the letters of ONE CENT, USA, EPU, the dots, the designer’s initials, and both sides of the lower Memorial.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short, horizontal die scratch can be found above the I in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A die gouge (dot) can be found at the top of the 5th Memorial column.  A small die gouge can be found at the top right of the inside of the C in AMERICA.  A small die gouge can be found between the 2nd S in STATES and the O in OF.  A strong, slightly hooked die gouge can be found on the rim midway between the 2nd A in AMERICA and the designer’s initials.

Comments:  As a proof variety it is highly unlikely that more than 3,000 specimens of this variety exist, as that is the average die life for a Lincoln cent proof die.  Consequently, this variety should be considered to be extremely rare.
