1976 1¢ WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  Strong Class VIextra thickness shows on the date, LIBERTY, and IGWT.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Circular die scratches can be found behindthe ear running into the field from the back of the head.  Similar die scratches can be seen below thedate.  A die crack can be found on thebase of the bust above VDB.  Reverse:  Circular die scratches can be found in thefirst three and last three Memorial bays.

1976 1¢ WDDO-002

Description:  Class VI extrathickness shows on LIBERTY and IGWT.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die gouge runs NNE from the I of IN.  A die gouge (dot) can be found to the rightof the lower G in GOD.  Reverse:  Die scratches running SW/NE can be found inthe upper first two Memorial bays.

Description:  Class VI extra thickness shows on IGWT and slightly on LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die gouge (dot) can be found on the lower front of the vest.  Reverse:  Die scratches running SSW/NNE can be found at the bottom of the third Memorial bay.

1976 1¢ WDDR-001

Description:  Extra thickness shows on ONE CENT, slightly on UNI of UNITED, the designer’s initials, and AMERICA.  Notches show on the upper UNI of UNITED, the upper N in CENT, and the lower R and second A in AMERICA.  Notches also show on the lower letters in ONE CENT when viewed upside down.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A diagonal die scratch can be found inside the O in GOD.  A diagonal die scratch can be found above and to the left of the L in LIBERTY.  A die scratch runs NE from the upper right of the B in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A die scratch can be found on the roof above the third bay and fourth column,  A heavy die scratch runs NNE from the upper tenth column to the top of the bay.  A die scratch runs WSW from under the Memorial north of the T in CENT.

Description:  A spreadtowards the center along with some extra thickness shows on USA, FG, and ONECENT.  Nice notching can be seen on theupper letters of UNITED and the lower letters of AMERICA and ONE.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short vertical die gouge can be foundbetween the centers of the N of IN and the G in GOD.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs ESE from the center rightside of the D in UNITED to the lower first S in STATES.  A die scratch runs NNE from the upper rightof the F in FG.
