Important Note:  The listings for the 1982 Lincoln cent obverse doubled dies have changed significantly with the discovery of the 1982 1¢ WWHO-001, resulting in the removal of the following listings: 1982 1¢ WDDO-001, WDDO-004, and WDDO-006.  Additionally, the 1982 1¢ WDDO-003 listing has been removed as die deterioration doubling. 


1982 1¢ WWHO-001          Doubled Working Hub

Description:  Doubling shows as mild uneven thickness with distortion on LIBER of LIBERTY and on IN GOD WE TRUST.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Will vary among the different working dies that were affected.  Reverse:  Will vary among the different working dies that were affected.

1982 1¢ WDDO-001          Listing Needed

Comments:  The original WDDO-001 was found to be the obverse doubled working hub – 1982 1¢ WWHO-001. This listing will be replaced.



1982 1¢ WDDO-002          "Best Of" Variety

Description:  A nice Class V CW spread from a pivot near the rim at approximately 5:00 shows on IGWT and LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Die scratches run parallel to the rim to the right of the date.  Two parallel die scratches run SW/NE above the 82 in the date.  Obverse Stage B:  Numerous die scratches run SE from the front of the bust.  Two parallel die scratches run from SW/NE below the date.  Reverse Stage A:  A die scratch runs NW/SE below the U in UNITED.  Reverse Stage B:  Two parallel die scratches run NW from the top of the E in CENT.  A die clash can be found in the lower 3rd Memorial bay.

1982 1¢ WDDO-004          Listing Needed  

Comments:  The original WDDO-004 was found to be the obverse doubled working hub – 1982 1¢ WWHO-001. This listing will be replaced.



1982 1¢ WDDO-005          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A spread towards the NE shows on LIBERTY, IN GOD, the date, the ear, the hair details behind the ear, and some of the folds in the vest.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Large Date Copper.  A die scratch runs NW/SE to the left of the I of IN.  A die scratch runs NE from the upper right 2 in the date to the rim.  A long SSW/NNE die scratch can be found under the I in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  None noted.

1982 1¢ WDDO-006          Listing Needed   

Comments:  The original WDDO-006 was found to be the obverse doubled working hub – 1982 1¢ WWHO-001. This listing will be replaced.




1982 1¢ WDDR-001

Description:  Strong extra thickness shows on USA, EPU, the designer’s initials, and ONE.  Separation lines are visible on AMERICA and the D in UNITED.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Small Date Zinc.  A die scratch runs north from the upper left of the I in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  Heavy E/W die scratches run NNW/SSE through the statue of Lincoln.  A die gouge (dot) can be found to the right of the upper T in CENT.  Two die gouges can be found below the right side of the N in ONE.

1982 1¢ WDDR-002          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A strong spread ESE shows on EPU, USA, ONE CENT, the left side of the Memorial, and most of the Memorial columns.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Small Date Zinc.  A die scratch runs ENE from the top of the E in WE.  A die scratch runs from the upper right T to the lower left R in TRUST.  Reverse:  Numerous E/W die scratches run throughout the reverse.  A circular pattern of die scratches can be found in the Memorial bays.
