Die Markers:Obverse Stage A: Very heavy die scratch ESE from above the right side of the N of IN toward the G in GOD. Many lighter WNW/ESE die scratches throughout the motto. Three die scratches from the left center of the G in GOD spreading out like a fan. E/W die scratch at the lower area of the ear opening. Very strong, fully detailed secondary mint mark. Obverse Stage B: Stage A markers still present. Secondary mint mark still strong. Obverse Stage C: Stage A markers abraded away except for a weak scratch above the N of IN and a weak scratch inside the ear. Secondary mint mark is full but less detailed. Obverse Stage D: Very weak scratch above the N of IN. Scratch inside the ear is abraded away. Weaker secondary mint mark. Obverse Stage E: Small die chip (dot) in the field centered above the LI in LIBERTY. Scratch above the N of IN is very mushy. Weak secondary mint mark. Obverse Stage F: Die chip still present. Weak secondary mint mark. Obverse Stage G: Die chip still present. Very weak secondary mint mark. Obverse Stage H: Stronger die chip above the LI of LIBERTY. Secondary mint mark reduced to a weak remnant. Reverse Stage A: Two die scratches SW from the bottom center of the E in STATES to the last A in AMERICA. Three die scratches between RIC of AMERICA and the tip of the right wheat stem appearing to look like a “lazy Z”. Reverse Stage B: Die clash marks show in the area of the E in ONE, the N of CENT and the C of CENT. Stage A scratches abraded away. Reverse Stage C: Die clash abraded away. Light NNE/SSW die crack in the lower right wheat grains. Reverse Stage D: NNE/SSW die scratch right from the lower area of the B in PLURIBUS. Reverse Stage E: New reverse die. Series of wavy E/W die scratches around the left wheat stem. Wavy die scratch west from the tip of the right wheat stem. Wavy E/W die scratches below OF and the AM in AMERICA. Strong die gouge at the right lower side of the U in UNITED. SW die scratch from the left lower side of the L in PLURIBUS. Reverse Stage F: Wavy die scratches weak. Scratch from the L in PLURIBUS abraded away. Die gouge still present. Weak die clash marks running NW/SE runs through the E in ONE, the N of CENT and the C of CENT. The clash marks are positioned different than the clash on the first reverse. Reverse Stage G: Die scratches at the wheat stems abraded away. Gouge at the U in UNITED is still present but weaker. Clash marks abraded away. NNE//SSW die scratch inside the C in AMERICA. NNE/SSW die scratches through the S in PLURIBUS. Reverse Stage H: All markers abraded away except for a weak gouge at the U in UNITED.

Die Markers:Obverse Stage A: Two NNW/SSE die scratches west of the 1 in the date. Die scratch below the earlobe that runs SW for a short distance and then turns south. N by W/S by E die scratch through the center of the E of WE. Die chip (dot) at the rim located below the L in LIBERTY. Light die scratch NNW from the bridge of the nose. Light N/S die scratches centered on the lapel and the jackets fold. Weak secondary mintmark showing a lower tail to the west. Obverse Stage B: Stage A markers abraded away except for a weak scratch from the nose and the chip below the L in LIBERTY. Slightly stronger secondary mint mark showing a weak upper curve to the west in addition to the tail. Obverse Stage C: Previous markers abraded away. N/S die gouge in the field from right center of the Y in LIBERTY. Small die chip (dot) in the field left center of the 9 in the date. Strong secondary mint mark. Obverse Stage D: Stage C markers still present but weak. Obverse Stage E: Only a weak gouge remains right of the Y in LIBERTY. Reverse Stage A: Die crack from the rim at 3:00 running SW to the wheat ear and then turning SSW and running through the right wheat grains. Very large die chip on the die crack looking right from the last S in STATES. Die crack running north from the upper left wheat grain and then getting weaker and turning NNW at the top of the grains toward the rim at 11:00. Two weak N/S die cracks on the right side wheat grains of the left wheat ear SW from the U in UNITED. Reverse Stage B: Stage A cracks are very strong especially the cracks on the wheat grains SW from the U in UNITED. Reverse Stage C: New reverse die. Die gouge at the right side of the C in CENT about one-fourth up from the bottom. Short E/W die scratch at the lower inside of the N of ONE where the left and diagonal legs meet. Die scratch south from the lower right of the N of CENT. Reverse Stage D: Die gouge from the tip of the left wheat running through the center of the E in EPU. The feeder fingers of the press scratching the die caused the gouge. Stage C markers still present but weak. Reverse Stage E: Die gouge still present at the C in CENT. Scratches at the N on ONE abraded away. Gouge from the left wheat weaker and only runs to the E of EPU.

Very small die chip on the left upper area of the head positioned below the G in GOD. Obverse Stage B: Lathe marks abraded away. Die chips are very weak. Obverse Stage C: Die gouge in the field below the S in TRUST. Obverse Stage D: Die gouge is very weak. Reverse Stage A: Heavy die crack NNE/SSW running along the right wheat grains and extending weakly outside the wheat ear. Reverse Stage B: New reverse die. Series of heavy lathe gouges below the left wheat stem. Long die scratch S by E from the right ell of the T in CENT. Reverse Stage C: Stage B markers abraded away. Die gouge near the rim NW from the M of UNUM. Reverse Stage D: Weaker die gouge from the M in UNUM. Very light die crack from the upper left of the E in ONE to the B in PLURIBUS. Light die crack SSW from the rim at 3:00 then turning south, running along the right wheat ear, and exiting slightly at 4:00.

Obverse Stage C: Die crack from the bottom of the V of the designer’s initials ENE over the D and B then turns east and runs along the jacket to the fold. Most die markers abraded away except for the chip in the ear and the original chip at the rim. Reverse Stage A: Many NNW/SSE die scratches through most of the letters of USOA. NW/SE die scratch above the right of the M in UNUM. NW/SE die scratch inside the upper area of the second U in UNUM.
