Description:  An extremely strong Class VI spread towards the center shows on the letters of ONE CENT, the designer’s initials, USA, and the Memorial building.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge can be found in the field south of the R in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A short, nearly vertical die gouge can be found above the right side of the U in UNITED.  A die gouge can be found between the T and E of STATES.  A small die gouge (dot) can be found on the lower left Memorial base.  A die gouge can be found above the right side of the F in OF.  A die gouge can be found to the left of the upper 1st A in AMERICA.  A die gouge can be found above the N in ONE.  A die gouge (dot) can be found at the top of the 1st Memorial bay.  The upper letters of UNITED are weak from heavy abrading.

Description:  A strong Class VI spread towards the center shows on the letters of ONE CENT.  Doubling also shows on the left side of the Memorial building and also on the UNI of UNITED.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Two die scratches run from SW to NE on the bottom front of the bust.  Reverse:  Two die gouges can be found on the upper left N in CENT.  A short die gouge protrudes from the center right of the N in CENT.  A die gouge can be found at the intersection of the left vertical bar and the diagonal bar of the N in ONE.

Description:  A CCW spread from a pivot at about 8:00 shows on USA, EPU, CENT, the designer’s initials.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  None significant.  Reverse:  A short vertical die gouge can be found above the first T in STATES.  Horizontal die scratches can be found on the roof north of columns 8 through 10.

Description:  A CCW spread from a pivot at approximately 9:00 shows on USA, ONE CENT, the designer’s initials, the right side of the Memorial building, and slightly on EPU.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Die scratches run from SSW to NNE at the front of neck and below the bowtie.  A small die gouge (dot) can be found to the right of the top of the Y in LIBERTY.  A strong die scratch runs WSW from the rim well to the right of the 2nd T in TRUST.  Obverse Stage B:  Same as Stage A.  Reverse Stage A:  Two parallel die scratches run SW to NE through the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Memorial bays.  A small die gouge (dot) can be found below the left end of the Memorial steps.  A small die gouge (dot) can be found just above the left side of the Memorial roof north of the 2nd Memorial bay.  A die gouge (dot) can be found in the field well north of the E in CENT.  A die scratch runs SSE from the center right F in OF to the S in PLURIBUS.  Reverse Stage B:  The die scratches through the 3rd, 4th, and 5th bays are gone.  The die scratch SSE from the F in OF is still visible but it is weak.  All of the noted die gouges are still present.

Description:  A strong Class II spread towards the center shows on the letters of USA, ONE CENT, EPU, the dots, the designer’s initials, and the lower right Memorial.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die gouge runs ESE from the rim between the T and R of TRUST.  Reverse:  A short die scratch runs south from the bottom of the C in AMERICA.  A short vertical die gouge can be found between the centers of the C and E in CENT.  A die gouge (dot) can be found at the top of the 6th Memorial bay.  A small die gouge (dot) can be found on the Memorial roof north of the 6th Memorial bay.

Description:  A CCW spread from a pivot at 3:00 shows on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS, the left Memorial base, ONE CENT, and slightly on the designer’s initials.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short die scratch runs NNW from the bottom right E of WE.  Reverse:  A die gouge can be found at the rim just to the left of the F in OF.  A die scratch runs from WSW to ENE through the statue’s head.  A die scratch runs from WSW to ENE through the lower 1st to bays.  Several die scratches run from WSW to ENE through the lower 5th bay.
