Memorial Cent Doubled Dies: 1998 1¢ WDDR-201 to END

1998 1¢ WDDR-201

Description:  Doubling shows as 2 knees above and to the right of knees

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die chip can be found well above the right side of the B of LIBERTY.  A die chip can be found between the upper S and T of TRUST.  Reverse:  A die chip can be found below the T of UNITED.

1998 1¢ WDDR-202

Description:  Bar extended from the middle of the knee to the middle of the base to the left of the statue on the sixth column. 

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Short die gouge between the tops of the G and O of GOD.  Reverse:  Small die gouges touch the top left corners of the I and T in UNITED.

1998 1¢ WDDR-203

Description:  Bar extended from the hand to lower leg to the left of the statue on the sixth column

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short die chip is present inside the right side of the second 9 of the date.  A die chip is present touching the lower left side of 1 of the date about a fourth of the way from the bottom.  A die scratch runs to the rim from the top right side of N of IN.  A die chip is found just right of the eye.  Reverse:  A very short die scratch runs from the rim above the right tip of E toward the top left side of S of STATES.  The hub die scratches on the lower roof as well as die scratches at the top of memorial bay 8 can be seen.  A die chip is present inside the left side of N of CENT.  A die chip is present right of the center bar of E of ONE.

Comments:  The doubling on this die is similar to 1998 1¢ WDDR-062 but shows a stronger curve in the center of the doubling toward the left.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1998 1¢ WDDR-204

Description:  Bar extended from the hand to the shin to the right of the statue on the seventh column.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A series of extremely fine die scratches run south from Lincoln’s lower nose. A series of very light N-S oriented die scratches show in the field under Lincoln’s chin and right of the bowtie.  Reverse:  A NW-SE oriented die scratch connects the outer edge of column 12 with the right second memorial step. A long, N-S oriented die scratch runs in the field right of column 12. A light series of die scratches run SW under the left memorial base.

Comments:  The doubling on this die is similar to 1998 1¢ WDDR-163 except that this die does not have the extra pair of knees to the left of the statue’s knees. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1998 1¢ WDDR-205

Description:  Bar extended from the middle of the knee to the lower leg to the right of the statue on the seventh column

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die chip can be found well above and between the I and B of LIBERTY.  Reverse:  Horizontal die scratches can be found below the O of ONE.  The hub marker die scratches can be found in the upper seventh and eighth memorial bays.

Comments:  The doubling on this die is similar to 1998 1¢ WDDR-013 but the doubling on this die is flatter and extends less far south.  The doubling on this die is similar to 1998 1¢ WDDR-137 but slightly weaker. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1998 1¢ WDDR-206

Description:  Bar extended from the bottom of the inside of the hand to the lower leg to the right of the statue's left leg

Die Markers:  Obverse:  None noted.  Reverse:  A die chip can be found between the second S of STATES and the O of OF.  A die chip can be found between the lower N and T of CENT.  A die chip can be found in the lower last memorial bay.

Comments:  The hub marker above N in UNUM is not visible.  The hub markers at the top of memorial bay 7 and 8 are not visible.  The roof hub markers are not visible. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1998 1¢ WDDR-207

Description:  Bar extended from the upper knee to below the foot to the right of the statue on the seventh column

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die chip shows in the field, equidistant between the lower I of IN and the back of Lincoln’s head.  Reverse:   A curved die gouge shows in lower eighth memorial bay.  Die pitting shows to the northeast of the right memorial roof.  A series of die gouges show around the N of CENT.
